Amos Lee - "Hold on Tight"

Artist: Amos Lee

All we have is each other
All we have in this dying light
All we have is each other
So hold on tight

Amos Lee has always been a favorite around these parts, but he's a man on fire lately with an impressive string of albums over the last few years including 2020's Dreamland and tribute projects for Chet Baker and Lucinda Williams. In the process, he's shown off some newer, surprising sides alongside some of his best vocal work and we love the expanded catalog.

Now we've learned that a new album is on the way, Transmissions (Thirty Tigers), later this summer and the firstfruits have us excited for so much more. "Hold on Tight" is an immediate earworm with a heartening call to unity that doesn't deny the "long cold night" but instead provides companionship within it.

Amos shared this quote about the new song via press release, which explains some of the creative context for "Hold On Tight":

“This is about having a much tighter handle on how important our people are to us, your friends and your family, and watching people go that you love,” says Amos Lee. “It’s about appreciating people and wanting to make sure everybody that you love knows you love them and find them important. It’s a pretty simple little song. There’s not a ton going on. I like the lyrics because they’re saying a lot with very few words, which I really love. The band really did a great job on this one. I didn’t want it to be hard to get through, I wanted it to be a thing people can sing to each other.”

Be on the watch for more singles from Transmissions as the August 9 release date creeps closer (and you can pre-order here).
