Coming to terms has never sounded so beautiful.

"Massachusetts" is the latest single from Handsome Ghost, the pop duo comprised of Tim Noyes and Eddie Byun. The song is a musical treatise on settling, on coming to terms with where you're from or where you're going. From their forthcoming album Some Still Morning, the single holds meaningful layers, and the band's new acoustic take, which we're thrilled to premiere today, reveals them all so well.

"I think there’s a clarity that comes with a stark change of scenery and hopefully that comes through in the song."

Noyes explained the meaning behind the song for us:

"A bit of a homecoming song. I grew up in Massachusetts and then moved away for a long while after high school only to come back a couple years ago. It was a strange feeling, returning to familiarity after being gone for so long. There’s nothing wrong with choosing to live where you grew up, but for some reason it felt like giving up to me. I’ve warmed up to it over time and now I’m actually relatively happy here—at least for the time being.

"The song works through the phases of a breakup, but I think the perspective is probably more important than the narrative. That relationship was set in the city, and now I’m looking back on it from an entirely different place, literally. I think there’s a clarity that comes with a stark change of scenery and hopefully that comes through in the song."

Still Some Morning will release on May 15 (Photo Finish).
