With the release of Good Luck Kid in 2019, Joseph realized the sort of achievement that so many artists and bands reach for and never attain, a front-to-back must listen with as much style as substance. It was catchy and contemplative with songs that won immediately yet lingered long after the album closed with "Room For You." It was our favorite album of the year.

Fast forward to 2023 and you can imagine how thrilled we were to hear the follow-up for Joseph, the sibling trio comprised of Allison Closner, Meegan Closner, and Natalie Schepman, was on the way. Entitled The Sun, the band's fourth studio full-length is due out on April 28 on ATO Records.

For now, we only have one of the 10 songs available to us, but lead track "Nervous System" sends a strong signal that the pop prowess showcased last time around is still fueling plenty more music. It's instant and inspired and its musical genius is how it knows to get out as quickly as possible—a mature restraint that does its work and leaves you wanting more.

Thematically, the girls are always offering up vulnerable perspectives or describing personal moments with such resonant beauty. "Nervous System" follows suit with an internal look at mental health struggles and the wrestling involved to find the horizon line.
