This is shaping up to be a great year for fans of The Paper Kites.
The Paper Kites have been marked by a resonant, organic warmth in their music over the course of several albums now, so it shouldn't surprise anyone to hear the lovely tenderness that marks the band's new single, "The Sweet Sound of You." Shortly on the heels of their 2021 release, Roses, the Australian band is back with an accompanying announcement that much more music is on the way.
Beyond the new single, the live production is taken from a month-long production in a bar in the town of Campbell's Creekwhat they're calling The Roadhouse. More singles and live footage are likely on the way, but this lead single is enough to make you wish you were one of the lucky few in this quaint pub for intimate performances like this.
Here are the lyrics to "The Sweet Sound of You":
Well the days are getting colder now
And the nights are getting longer
Feels like half the world
Has gone to sleep
Till the weather blows right over
But when I'm on my own
I still hear the sweet sound of you
Echoes through the home
I still hear the sweet sound of you
There's a place I like to go sometimes
Sit and watch the day turn over
Watch the trees turn to shadows now
See the light changing her colour
But when it fades away
I still hear the sweet sound of you
Just that time of day
I still hear the sweet sound of you
Well you know we're getting older now
People talking, children playing
It gets hard to find the time to say
The things we know we should be saying
But when I think it's gone
I still hear the sweet sound of you
Echoes through the home
I still hear the sweet sound
The sweet sound of you
