Go ahead and make another me, please?
We're not exactly sure how this release is going to go, but Will Dailey told us the same thing in our most recent feature interview. What is certain is that the music deserves to be heard (and we're doing our part to make sure that it is).
If you're wondering what's happening with Dailey these days, he's still very much leaning into his considerable songwriting talents to craft yet another meaningful album. However, instead of releasing such labors to the algorithm, Dailey has decided that his newest work—Boys Talking—will only be available direct to consumer.
Sorry, Spotify.
Over the last few years, Dailey has become increasingly dissatisfied with the mechanics of the music industry. To push back against the typical cycles, Dailey has decided to release Boys Talking at shows, at his website, or on BandCamp. Only one single will be available to stream in some way and that's where we we've landed with "Make Another Me".
The Boston-based singer-songwriter found a longtime friend and willing creative partner in Juliana Hatfield to sing with him on the track. The lovely and languid single positions Dailey shrugging at our isolation in the midst of such a socially-shared culture. It's clever and affecting, and Hatfield agrees with us, which is why she signed up to sing on it.
"Singing on this song with Will was a dream," said Hatfield. "I mean, what a great song! I love it. It was so easy to do because all the elements were in place already when I came into the studio: the songwriting, the sounds, the vibe, the idea, the singing, the instruments. I'd gladly sing with Will again anytime."
